About St Oswald's Hospice and the Adult Inpatient Unit Garden
St Oswald’s Hospice, a cornerstone of care in the North East, provides expert, compassionate care to children and adults with life-limiting conditions, as well as vital support for their families. The hospice’s Adult Inpatient Unit garden, one of 32 on the premises, holds a special place in the hearts of patients, offering a peaceful escape for reflection, relaxation, and even family celebrations.
Anne Tuck, Matron of the Adult Inpatient Unit at St Oswald’s, emphasised the importance of the garden to the patients: “For many, being outside and feeling the wind or seeing the sunshine is something deeply meaningful. I’ll always remember one patient laying out a towel on the grass and sunbathing—it was such a simple yet profound moment of joy.”
