Originally from Lincolnshire, and now based in York, Lucy creates beautiful tiny embroidered studies that are a celebration of the coastline and landscape found across the British Isles.

Lucy’s landscapes are completely free style and hand stitched. Enjoying the freedom of working this way, Lucy can really build in to the image and layer up colour and texture, approaching each piece like painting with thread.

Lucy works from her own photography, taken on her travels with her family around the U.K. Hand stitching is a long process that doesn't lend itself to working from a live scene.

Using stranded cotton thread stitched on to a calico background, the finished piece is stretched over a canvas.

The landscapes are then carefully framed to help the detail really pop against the black background.
