Part of the New Light Prize Exhibition 2020

Louise Saward is an artist based in Liversedge, West Yorkshire who specialises in watercolour portraits. She recently procured first place in The Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize 2019 in London and featured in Portrait Artist of the Year 2020. She has also exhibited two portraits in the Ferens Open 2020 exhibition.

Following her graduation with a Fine Art degree in 2001 at the University of Northumbria, Louise spent a significant amount of time away from her art, returning to painting full time after giving birth to her daughter in 2016. The life changing experience of parenthood has inspired her to refocus on becoming the artist as she had always intended to be. She still considers herself to be an emerging artist but hopes to continue to build on the success she has achieved since her return and build upon her increasing portfolio of work.
