Charlotte Royle
Part of the New Light Prize Exhibition 2020
Charlotte Royle was born in York in 1964. She grew up in a small village in East Yorkshire where, at an early age, she developed a keen love of nature and began drawing. After school, she studied Fashion and Textiles at Liverpool specializing in print, and then worked internationally as a designer. In 1998, Charlotte settled in Edinburgh and began concentrating exclusively on drawing and painting. A few years later she moved to Tuscany where she still has a studio and where she has created a beautiful garden which itself is a work of art and provides inspiration for her practice.
Charlotte is now based in Casablanca but spends time both in Yorkshire and Tuscany where she paints, draws, and exhibits. She has had five solo shows in Morocco and works with galleries in Tuscany and Yorkshire.
