A day in the Studio with Kirsty Adams

·

We spent a day in the studio with ceramacist Kirsty Adams to find out more about her life as a potter. Kirsty Adams is an award-winning ceramicist who's been making for over twenty years; having originally set up a studio in London, she now works from her studio in Newcastle upon Tyne.

In this video we explore her journey from Brighton Art College to the potters' wheel in Japan. Kirsty talks us through her approach to throwing on the wheel, we take a look through her tool collection and cast our eyes on her latest works in progress.

If you'd like to see more from Kirsty you can take a tour through her latest collections in our Ceramics Showcase on display now until 16 June. This exhibition brings together a limited edition of one-off, upscaled pieces from three of her prestigious collections; taking influence from Iceland, Japan and Northumberland.

Kirsty recently designed a bespoke range for the National Trust's Artisan and Craft Collection. She is a selected member of Design-Nation UK and Society of Designer Craftsmen and has been selected by the Michelangelo Foundation as a Master Artisan for their prestigious and globally renowned Homo Faber Guide.

You can also view and shop the full collection online. Browse a selection from her Ceramics Showcase below!
