Please could you tell us a little about yourself and how you got started in the wedding industry?

I've been drawing and painting since I could hold a brush, which led me to study art and design at college, then fashion design at university. After graduating, I worked in bridalwear, helping brides find *the* dress. It was great to be part of such a big moment, but I always found myself wanting to be there on the day itself, seeing everything come together.

How long have you been working at The Biscuit Factory and what do you enjoy most about working here?

I started at the Biscuit Factory in January 2024, to coincide with the launch of The Garden Room. In my first week, we showcased at the NE Wedding Fair with Belle Bridal and it was amazing to see so many people fall in love with The Garden Room at first sight, just like I did!

I think this might be one of my favourite things about working here, that moment I get to open the double doors and invite couples into the room for the first time and see their faces as they take in the floor to ceiling waterfall and of course, the plants.

What are your main responsibilities?

You can find me in the events office speaking with new couples who are initially enquiring or on a show around with a happy couple, hearing all about their ideas for the day.

I also meet with the booked couples throughout the planning process until I'm there on the day, making sure they've got a drink in their hand and a smile on their face.

What advice would you give to couples who have just started their wedding planning journey?

For couples who are at the first stage of planning, think about three important things you want for your day.

Are you looking for low-key/relaxed vibes with good food and music, a venue that doesn't need a lot of dressing or something more ornate and grand? This will help hugely when you start to look at narrowing down the venues you'd like to visit.

What are some of your favourite wedding trends or themes you've seen recently?

One of my favourite trends I've seen recently was from one of our couples this year who has amazing artistic talent and created place cards for the seating arrangement, but they were drawings of their guests!

This made a great conversation topic on the tables and a lovely keepsake for everyone. If you aren't as good with a pencil, have a look on Etsy - there are some amazing artists on there who offer this!

What makes The Biscuit Factory unique compared to other wedding venues?

The Biscuit Factory is unique for so many reasons, from the ever-changing Gallery spaces to the vastness of The Biscuit Room.

My favourite though is The Garden Room, there just isn't anywhere like it in the North East. You're guaranteed great couple photos with it's indoor-outdoor aesthetic.

The Garden Room is air regulated to look after the plants, ensuring it's always feels right... and you don't need to worry what the notorious British weather might be doing on your wedding day!
