Arising from her response to the past and to the present, her subjects are a merging of the here-and-now and the world of the imagination.

After graduate and postgraduate studies in Fine Art, British artist Sonia Martin completed a Masters Degree in printmaking at Camberwell College of Art, London. Her work has been exhibited widely in solo and group shows including the Royal Academy, New Hall College, Cambridge, the Barbican, Lynn Painter Stainers Prize Exhibion, the Bankside Gallery, Contemporary Art Society and the Dentons Art Prize.

Awards include Fundacion Valparaiso Residency, Spain, Chhaap Foundation Residency, India, Cork Printmakers Residency, Ireland, Fundacion Amazonia Residency, Bolivia, GX Gallery award, Winsor & Newton Watercolour Prize, Eaton Fund for Artists and the  Oppenheim-John Downs Memorial Trust Award.

Sonia is also an elected member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers.
