Robert Cook

Part of the New Light Prize Exhibition 2020

Originally, Robert Cook trained as a scientific illustrator before teaching the subject for many years. Now he lives and works as a wildlife artist in Lancashire blending his love of painting with a passion for nature.

Through measured observation and considered compositions, Robert imparts a rich narrative in his depictions of birds in their landscape. This is in contrast to his studies of endangered species in which he typically omits any sense of environment, choosing instead to focus on portraying the individual.

Robert’s artworks have been shown in many exhibitions, including in the Mall Galleries, the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art, and Nature in Art in the UK. He is a multiple award-winner who has been juried into the internationally renowned ‘Birds in in Art’ exhibition, Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Wisconsin, USA in 2005,2006, 2010, 2015, 2016, and 2020.
