Phil West is a Newcastle based artist who studied in Glasgow before becoming a full time Graphic Designer. 

Phil travelled and worked extensively as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator throughout Scotland & England. Now in retirement he continues to produce freelance Graphic Design and Illustrative work for a range of clients and continues to illustrate and paint the structures of iconic buildings and landscapes around the North East.

Phil completed a 5 year Apprenticeship in Packaging Design and Illustration in Glasgow and spent 4 years working as a Graphic Designer in a variety of Newcastle Design Consultancies. He then worked for 10 years at Newcastle College setting up and working as a Senior Lecturer for Higher Courses in Graphic Design, Editorial Design and Information Graphics.

Phil has also Lectured in Information Graphics at places from Bradford University, Lagos Nigeria for the BBC World Service and The New York Times; alongside working as an editorial designer at the Sunday Times.
