Louise Davies
Louise Davies is an English painter and printmaker who resides in London. Davies studied Fine Art at St Martins School of Art in London, followed by completing an M.A in Printmaking at the University of the Arts London, Camberwell College of Arts. Davies is a member of the acclaimed Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, which is based in Bankside Gallery situated on the Southbank, next to the Tate Modern in London. Davies is an award-winning artist and exhibits widely throughout the United Kingdom, as well as in Private Collections. Louise works full-time from her studio in South East London, by the River Thames.
Davies’ inspiration comes from the landscape and her interpretation of it. Renowned for her distinctive line drawings and a strong sense of colour. Her speciality lies particularly in Printmaking with Etching and Collagraph. Working directly from her sketches drawn from the landscape, Davies brings them back to the studio and draws immediately onto the wax ground on zinc plates. Davies’ work is very instinctive, she can spend weeks experimenting with the work by trying out different layers of coloured inks and exploring mark making until she is satisfied with the finished image. The prints are all limited editions of 75 but each are unique in their own way, as they are printed individually by the artist.
