Kevin Maddison is an illustrator based in Lincolnshire who works across etchings, pastel and watercolour. He originally trained in typography at the London College of Printing, however spent most of him life working as an Artist & Illustrator, having developed his illustration ability whilst working for the then influential publisher, Mitchell Beazley.
Maddison enjoys producing etchings which have considerable Illustrative bias. Initially drawn to dry point and having experimented with Intaglio printing he is fascinated with how these processes can sometimes develop in the most subtle or bold ways, like chemical photography. He sees it as an extension of the drawing process which gives him another means of conveying humour and narrative; the prints become pictures without books.
