Jane Charles originally studied Ceramics at North Staffordshire Polytechnic. Jane loved working with this material however grew frustrated with the length of time the making process took. Jane's interest in glass stemmed from a studio glass workshop next door to her ceramics class - a hot and noisy place that provided Jane with a making process that was exciting and immediate. 

Upon the completion of her degree Jane moved to Dudley, the heart of the British glass industry. Here she completed a glass making course and began the process of setting up her own glass studio. In 1996 Jane moved to Newcastle and has been exhibiting in galleries across the North since.
