Emily Doran Ceramics
Emily designs and make wheel thrown contemporary tableware from my south London garden studio. Her pottery is made by hand using traditional techniques, yet is very much designed for modern living. Each piece is crafted on the wheel, leaving visible the natural throwing rings and ridges to create tactile forms full of movement. Some pieces are intentionally distorted out of their uniform shape to create unique and odd forms.
With a love of experimentation Emily develops her own own glazes and is continually drawn to the uplifting palette of the coast, using greeny blue and soft oatmeal glazes combined with a rustic iron speckled stoneware clay to create a flecked bird egg effect.
