Cate Inglis
Cate Inglis is a Scottish painter and urban explorer based in Glasgow. Since graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 1999, her work has won numerous awards and she has exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. In recent years, her work has been showcased in Europe and the USA.
Cate’s love of architecture leads her to seek out and explore disused and derelict buildings. Her highly detailed oil paintings place an emphasis on draughtsmanship and texture, which she uses to communicate the transient nature of the built environment.
Constantly developing techniques to render the textures of brick, rust and concrete, Cate’s work takes her to disused, industrial sites and graffiti covered wastelands to capture the slow decay of man-made structures in the urban landscape.
