Fiona Sturrock - Spring Headline Exhibition

·

Fiona Sturrock joins us at The Biscuit Factory in March for a headline exhibition.

Fiona’s paintings demonstrate her love of colour; the practice of mixing colour, and laying down patterns of light, shade and texture to produce bold representations of her subjects. Expect a vibrant collection of still life and wildlife paintings

Fiona Sturrock with 'Fields of Gold' | 40 x 40cm | £850

Fiona was born and raised in Fife, Scotland. She grew up in a creative family with exposure to art and music as a normal part of being. Although these things were inherent to her life and her identity, she chose a different career path and has worked as a Clinical Psychologist since leaving Edinburgh University with her Doctorate degree in 2006.

Fiona never ceased in her love of art, music, writing, and the creative process. She continued to create in her personal time, being hugely inspired by historical works of Colourists and Impressionists. Her professional career in art began in 2012 when she was unexpectedly invited to exhibit at a gallery in Perth. Following this first successful exhibition the demand for her work grew rapidly and Fiona has been working as a professional painter since that time.

Fiona's most recognisable works are often her still life compositions. Vibrant and abundant florals set against strong backgrounds, combined with her expressive technique, give her paintings a bold and contemporary edge, making them equally at home in modern interiors or more clasically-designed spaces.

For this exhibition we're also excited to showcase Fiona's wildlife paintings. Characterful birds burst forth from the canvas, in perfectly balanced palettes that blend natural muted tones with pops of expressive colour. Expect to find such feathered friends as Penguin, Robin Red Breast and Brown Owl.

The collection is rounded out by fun, abstracted landscapes that Fiona turns to when her more formal compositions are completed; a way to experiment with colour and texture without the representational boundaries of her still life and wildlife paintings.
