Tell me about your process, how does your jewellery go from idea to finished piece

I start with a sketch to give form to a concept. New pieces are then modelled in silver or base metal to ensure that the composition and details are balanced before translating ideas into the final pieces. The process of developing designs in three dimensions allows me to get a better sense and understanding of the overall impact of the work.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Art, science, nature and the everyday are details that inspire me. I express my passion for art, design and nature through jewellery   I am fascinated by the structural construction of jewellery and how this influences the feel of a piece. By focusing on elegant and considered designs my work addresses complexities that go beyond the purely aesthetic.

How does your jewellery take on its fluid nature?

When I design, I place movement at the forefront of my decision making because it brings so much more interest and beauty to the piece. For me, the continuity of connection is enriched by a sense of flow and everlasting change.

What is the ethos behind Yen Jewellery?

The core of my design philosophy is to create jewellery that embodies comfort and radiates confidence when the distinctive pieces are worn. Physical movement and visual fluidity in my designs encapsulate a rare intriguing quality. Wearing a piece of my work becomes a journey of interpretation and enjoyment, which feels different each and every time.
